And now there are fewer than 46 million of us:

*Ukraine’s population decreased by 65,770 people in August 2010 and as of September 1 stood at 45,831,408 people. *

I still remember the public service ads in the early 90s: “There are 52 million of us”! For those whose calculator is in the cupboard, so you don’t have to get up, I’ll say that over the last twenty years the population of our country has shrunk by more than 6 million.

And here’s one for those who think something can still be fixed:

According to the Health Protection Department of the Department of Health Protection and Social Affairs, in the first month 13,627 pupils (13.5% of the total) were examined in general education institutions. Of them, healthy children account for 34.6%, while 37.2% require follow-up medical supervision.

Physical education classes in the main group have been permitted for 7,348 pupils (53.9%), in the preparatory group for 5,193 (38.1%), and in the special group for 785 (5.8%). 300 children (2.2%) have been excused from physical education classes.

Half of schoolchildren can’t do sports. I’d love to see the results of the medical exams for students who have made a habit of drinking crap and buying their way out of PE. But of course, abolishing the fees for making up lab work is more important. That’s how we’ll win!
