While Amazon is making $500 million in net profit a quarter from the cloud, Hewlett-Packard is shutting down its public cloud. The other day I got this email:

In short, on January 31, 2016, Hewlett-Packard will stop providing public cloud services — basically, shut down your servers and download your data, because after that you won’t have access to them.
It’s important to understand that this is specifically about HP’s public cloud. Judging by their site, HP’s Helion enterprise cloud is doing fine.
