Recently I ran into a good acquaintance on public transit. He told me that five years of studying at our university seemed like not enough to him, and despite the exposé “Why Go to Graduate School?” by my friend Mikha, he decided anyway to enroll as a full-time postgraduate student at KhNURE.
When the topic of postgraduate study comes up, I remember my own years of study, and how everything could have been much better than it actually was. Obviously, wisdom always comes much later than the moment when it is actually needed. Nevertheless, a certain amount of methodological material has accumulated in my head, and it needs to be shared with people who are planning to write dissertations, theses, or even ordinary term papers.
This is an announcement for a small series of articles on the topic “How a Young Scientist Can Survive at a University.” What awaits us all:
-
choosing a topic for scientific work
-
conducting research and obtaining practical results
-
scientific and practical conferences
-
preparing the manuscript
-
defending the work
